 Angel Strings was founded in 2004 by a group of musicians keen to share their passion for music in as many contexts as possible. Under the direction of cellist Kathryn McKee, the string quartet has played at hundreds of weddings, corporate events, concerts and more.
Angel Strings are professionally trained musicians based in Brisbane with national and international experience. Individual members have performed with the Queensland Symphony and Pops Orchestras, Saint Martin in the Fields and the Australian Youth Orchestra. They have played with international artists Nigel Kennedy, Andrea Bocelli, Kanye West, Il Divo, Harry Connick Jr, Julian Lloyd Webber, Archie Roach and William Barton.
Angel members have played on the albums of Anthony Warlow, Doch, Jamie Dunn and Shellie Morris among many others, in addition to film soundtracks and live theatre. You may have caught an ‘Angel’ in a professional production of The Phantom of the Opera, Miss Saigon, Les Miserables or West Side Story….
While regularly performing a broad classical repertoire, Angel Strings have developed a reputation for their edgy renditions of modern works and pop/rock arrangements. They have a unique ability to connect with a wide audience, having featured at Brisbane City Council City Hall Lunchtime Concerts, Musica Viva CountryWide and at the Spark Bar of the Brisbane Powerhouse.
