Tango Paradiso
Tango Paradiso Real Audio Sample (470kbs) TANGO PARADISO consists of a group of professional musicians dedicated to the presentation of authentic Argentinean tango. They aim to recreate the essence and passion of the great tango tradition, both past and present.
They draw their inspiration from the golden age of tango, playing many of the classic tango's milonga's and valses of that era, as well as contemporary tango's by Piazzolla and Salgan.Their experience in performance and improvisation, as well as their love of tango creates a dynamic and vibrant experience for their audiences.
They have been enthusiastically acclaimed at the recent Woodford Folk Festival in Queensland, and they play regularly at tango events in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast.Tango Paradiso can perform as a dance band or as featured solo entertainers. The ensemble is flexible and can be tailored to suit individual requirements, from a tango trio (piano, violin, and double bass) to a five-piece band. The performances can also include an ensemble of tango dancers to demonstrate and teach the art of tango.
The group consists of five classically trained professional musicians:
Moshlo, violin, has performed in Australia and overseas with many chamber ensembles including the Australian Chamber Orchestra. Over the last few years he has developed an interest and a passion for the tango. His European background gives him a natural affinity with the music, enabling him to communicate the intensity and mood, which is the heart of tango.
Carla Thackrah for many years was principal flautist with the Australian Opera and Ballet, as well as the Sydney Symphony and other Australian orchestras before branching out into composing. Her experience and talent as a solo performer, adds a unique sound to the band.
Paul Hankinson studied piano with Natasha Vlasenko and graduated with Honours plus the University Medal from the Queensland Conservatorium. He has won three national piano competitions and has extensive experience as a soloist. He has also been musical director and composer for a number of cabaret and circus events. His talent for improvisation and intense musical expression are ideally suited to tango performances.
Pat Marchisella studied double bass with Micahael Morgan and has won a number of prizes at the Queensland Conservatorium. He performs extensively in orchestras, small ensembles, and cabaret productions. He has a keen interest in jazz, winning the James Morrison scholarship.
Roland Adeney, a graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music, most enjoys collaborating with fellow artists, be they musicians, poets, a cast of actors or acrobats. He composes and performs acoustic violin, mixed and electronic music for theatre, shows and recordings.
