Pianist / composer
18-year-old pianist and composer Alex Raineri, is currently studying an undergraduate bachelor of music degree at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Leah Horwitz, piano, and Gerard Brophy, composition.
Alex's performance experience include recitals in Germany, England, California, Taiwan, Australia and concerto performances with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Sinfonia of St Andrews, and the St Lucia Orchestra. He has been broadcast on ABC television and Radio, 2MBS, 3MBS and 4MBS.
Alex's diverse range of repertoire and skills includes background music for functions/weddings, involvement in a piano trio 'the Meanjin Trio', a new music ensemble 'MAC Ensemble' and is experienced in harpsichord and orchestral playing.
Alex is an experienced composer. In 2010 he released a CD of original works entitled 'Stone Butterflies' featuring performances by the Queensland Youth Symphony Orchestra, Jason Barry-Smith, Louise King, Graham Evans and Antonia Breen, with artwork by David Paulsen. In addition, Alex has two solo piano albums entitled 'Shadow Dancing' and 'When Poets Dreamed'.
