Janice Preece, harpist is available for all elegant occasions including weddings and corporate events in Brisbane, Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast. Her music will create that very special ambience to make your function outstanding and memorable. Janice plays a full size concert harp.
Janice was born in Wales, the land of song and music. After graduating with a B.Mus (Hons) from the University of North Wales, Bangor, Wales, she completed a postgraduate Harp Performance Course at the Welsh College of Music and Drama, Cardiff. Janice went on to win the Harp Competition at the prestigious Royal National Eisteddfod of Wales. Janice studied the harp with Elinor Bennett and Ann Griffiths. She has performed at masterclasses by world renowned harpists Osian Ellis, Marisa Robles and Edward Witsenburg.
In recognition of Janice’s musical gifts, she was admitted as a bard in her home country, Wales. Her bardic name is “Telynores Dwyfor” which translates as “The Harpist of Two Seas”. This name took on profound significance when she made Australia her new home while maintaining strong links with her Welsh homeland.
Janice has earned both a national and an international musical reputation through her performances in various symphony orchestras in Australia and the UK and the demands for her gifts and skills have taken her to many unique destinations both in Australia and abroad. Janice has performed as Principal Harpist with the Queensland Pops Orchestra for many years. She has been employed as resident harpist at Sheraton Hotel and Stamford Plaza in Brisbane. She also performs regularly in concerts with Carisma, a flute, harp and cello trio and has been signed as a recording artist to ABC Classics.
Her wide-ranging repertoire features classical music, popular music, movie themes, Celtic and wedding music. Janice is happy to cater for special requests and can also organize a duo or trio.
